Creating a growth engine for the Irish language through the Local Authorities

What is Gaeilge365?

Led by Dublin City Council, in partnership with South Dublin County Council, Dún Laoghaire-Ráthun and Fingal, Gaeilge365 is the first language innovation program in Ireland, which is dedicated to putting the Irish language at the heart of local authority services.

We believe that the Irish language is a huge resource, full of possibilities to enrich communities culturally, socially and economically. Although the number of Irish speakers is increasing, the opportunities to use it are decreasing. We see local authorities as the missing link in bridging this gap.

By applying the lens of language innovation to over 1,000 local authority services — including arts, libraries, economic development and entrepreneurship — we see Irish as a tool to not only improve public services, but also to create vibrant connections among communities.
